US Passports are not required for travel to Puerto Rico unlike most other Caribbean travel

There are daily flights to San Juan (SJU) from many airports and to Aguadilla (BQN) from major airports. Preferred flight arrangements are a trade-off of convenience and cost.

Travel time from SJU is 2+ hrs and from BQN is 30 minutes. Rental cars are available at both airports as well as taxis, $150 and $40, respectively.

Flights to/fro SJU are during normal travel hours. Flights to/fro BQN are off-peak. Continental leaves NWK early evening and arrives late night. Jet Blue flights generally depart close to midnight and arrive during wee hours of the morning. Both airlines have crack of dawn return flights. Jet Blue generally adds a second flight during peak tourist season only, with a bit more reasonable schedule. Depending on advanced booking and season of the year, Continental and Jet Blue fares are in the range of $200-$300 pp RT.
