From either airport, find your way to Rte 2 south in Aguadilla. From SJU, it is 2+ hrs across the island on the expressway. From BQN, it is 10 minutes on Rte 107.
Once at the intersection of Routes 2 and 107, take Rte 2 south for 10 mi (17km) to Rte 402. The intersection is at the bottom of a long, steep down grade with McDonalds on the corner. Turn Right onto Rte 402, which is in lousy condition, continue ~3 miles to the end, and turn Right onto Rte 115.
Note: The next turn is 3.6 miles (5.7 km). In ~1.5 miles the road becomes divided for a short distance by a tree belt median. After a short stretch thru a small commercial area, the road again becomes divided. At the third turn off on the left, km 10.4 – Corcega, turn Left on to Rte 429. The landmark is a large stadium and athletic field complex.
Macor is 1+ miles on the right: can't miss it – twin 9 story towers. Note: Rte 429 curves to the left one-quarter mile after the turn. Do not continue straight to the beach.
Also, Rte 429 is a loop road. You will pass the other end approximately 2 miles after the turn onto Rte 115. That section of 429 is curvy and tight, not the best route for the first visit, particularly when arriving in the dark.
One additional note. Folks drive differently here. Many drivers use the passing lane as the slow speed travel lane, and the travel lane as the passing lane. No “problema”, as long as you are aware of the difference and drive like a native. Also, local drivers often do not “stop” until a few seconds after the light turns red. Look carefully before proceeding.
